Day Seventy-Six: Blue Candles

crescent moon white on black
all nations healing hospital lights like stars along the road
snow grass pops crystal clear in the digital flash
single set of footprints through the winter football field
walk in the back school yard door
twelve turkeys basting in the ovens
potato peels and piles of turnip and onion
smells Christmas in the hallways
for tomorrow but today
the Grinch is prowling
teasing the season
students still giving reports
chairs lined in the gymnasium on green matting
family and friends flow in all nations
Christmas concert and we hold
each other's children
red and yellow, black and white
while some sing holding blue candles
